| brandy was our first shih tzu bought at a pet shop . all the animals there were from local breeders so i got very luck to find her breeder. a breeder of 25 years at that time. brandy was a big Shihtzu long tall nothing like our shih tzu today. when i first bought brandy my husband and i wanted to buy our first house dog both of us had always had big dogs. but living in a condo a small dog is what we were looking for. i walked into this mom and pop shop and first dog i see was a Maltese so white pink bows OMG the cutest little thing i ever saw. my husband saw a 1000.00 price tag. so here is this 6 month old black and white kind of gray shih tzu 300.00 after 20 min of yes no yes no we took brandy home the dog was horrible pooped all over the house pees on the beds horrible always barking my daughter at the time was 1 so to her brandy was perfect and i have to say brandy was AWSOME with the her. by the time brandy was 1 she was on my list of have to get rid of this dog!!!!!! well one day my friend and i Saturday cleaning our houses she lived across the hall we would leave our doors open and my now 2 year old Trisha and her daughter would play back and forth being the last apartments on the 3rd flood we would just baby gate the stairway and not worry im thinking kids are at her house she is thinking kids are at my house all i hear is brandy barking in the hall way and it eco down the stairwell and im yelling OMG im going to get evicted because of this dog well i go out to get this dog to lock her in the bath room and see the gate was sideways kids no where to be seen. i go down and out side and find my friends daughter in the driveway my Trisha no where this dog now is barking at me in the street i turn to go back to the house and brandy chases me still barking not once did she stop barking i turn to grab her she turns and runs down the street i chase her for a min then stop and turn back to the house saying stupid dog i hope you get hit by a car at the time im a frantic mess because i have this dog freaking out and i cant find my kid. well my neighbors helping me say grab that stupid dog and i will check the house for the kid so i chace this dog down the street barefoot in 80 degree heat to find my daughter sitting at the corner in front of the corner store i didn't know wether to hug the kid or the dog beat the kid or the dog all i know is i almost pasted out lolol after our LASSIE moment i realized that this dog wasn't stupid at all she was the smartest dog i ever had next to our German Shepard my dad raised but for a small dog she was amazing to not give up on me to make me follow her. well after this we MOVED into a house with a yard i went and looked for a breeder and found one his dogs looked nothing like brandy smaller more compact flatter faces with his help we matched brandy up with a boyfriend and a breeder who could help me and here we are 22 years later with the cutest's doll face shih tzu's and with the health and temperament that started with brandy OF COURES we got rid of the all the time barking the better in training and a few of the things that just didn't belong in her breed i learned that different breeders will breed to what they like along with standard to the breed there is a little room to play with. brandy past away at 21 years old her birthday was Jan she past in may quite in her sleep at the last 5 years we went back to the pee and poop in the house poop baby couldn't hold her self but even that last week we would say brandy where's the baby and she would perk up and say AOOOOOOOOO we where very luck to have brandy that long most dogs from pet shops come from mills we only have 2 litters with her first one i lost 5 out of 9 pups due to lack of knowledge of the breed being used to bigger dogs i figured she would do everything she didn't open bags i went and found 5 pups still in there bags dead she was a horrible mom didn't want to feed her babys which was a few of my first lessons in breeding not all dogs are made for breeding. but never the less we built a great line and very very proud to be part of the shih tzu breed and would protect it with my life |
